Our journey begins at the SBOL forum where some one asks a very good question “what happened to the ISF”. That takes me to their site internationalskiboardfederation.org (damn that’s fu*king long) where we find their objectives, “To be the “International Governing Body” for the sport of skiboarding, define the sport, and provide the rules and regulations for amateur and professional events.” (Umm ok) so they basically want to control what is an underground un-developed sport.
Well now here we are searching through their site when we find what they say is the skiboard definition, “A skiboard is a ski under 100cm with releasable or non-releasable bindings” so that means that Adam Lynam’s boards don’t count as skiboards by the ISF’s definition. So what happens to Adam when he wants to use his boards in an ISF competition? He can’t compete. So now it seems to me that the ISF is just a childish experiment, something truly un-useful to the sport of skiboarding.
So here it is the sum up of what the ISF is. They try to govern an underground sport that doesn’t have a big enough market for a “governing body”, I mean lets face it we aren’t the biggest sport out there, right now we don’t need this political face of skiboarding what we need are companies (thank you Mix) and riders we need a market so that our sport can grow and actually be able to support our pros with out them having to pick up skiing so they can make a decent buck. We just don’t need them right now for there are more snowbladers (those pieces of shit that Solomon makes) then there are skiboarders, so maybe in the future we can have a “governing body” but lets wait for a better skiboarding market before we buy the luxury of a Skiboarding Federation.
So closes the search for the lost Federation, and here’s the conclusion, lets leave them lost till we can afford to feed them, until skiboarding can have a firm foundation and firm companies. I leave you now and I encourage you guys to talk this up start threads in the forums let us know what you think. And I would like to thank Greco for loving the sport more than himself he is a gift we must hold on to, so thank you Greco from all of us skiboarders big and small.
