FATblades…

January 21, 2008

SKI BLADES WITH SNOWBOARD BINDINGS AND BOOTS — The skier shown is of upper intermediate standard and demonstrates the versatility of FATblades. To accommodate any snowboard boot binding, the patented and design protected FATblades are 16.5cm wide at the narrowest point. Being FAT (like fat boy skis) but short (82cm) like ski blades or skiboards, the “FATblader” is able to demonstrate great performance and versatility. Using FATblades promotes more of a shoulder width skiing stance which is great for stability and comfort. The use of snowboard bindings and boots gives the FATblades more of a cool snowboard style. Every snowboarder should carry a spare pair in their snowboard case. Items are flat when unscrewed from the bindings and will also fit into a large suitcase. Great fun for snowboarders who want to ski without losing their cool snowboarding style. Great for skiers who prefer the comfort and style of snowboard boots and clothing. Watch traditional Swiss / Alpine style skiers struggle through powder as you float past them on FATblades. Fantastic to use — A real breakthrough!

Loken Making A Comeback?

January 20, 2008

lokencomeback.jpg

Two seasons ago a company long in the making from Norway made its first appearance on the skiboarding world. Loken Industries set out to bring high quality skiboard gear to a starved sport.

Loken skiboards got great reviews from all around the skiboarding industry. But unfortunatly wasn’t able to keep up with the market. Ola Loken explains “The weak U.S Dollar fucked it up for me.., it’s friggin crazy, the USD dropped down 35% on me since I started Loken”

Loken in is the process of trying to reorganize for the future. Ola: “No givin up yet.., trying to reorganize..” No word yet on what goods are being planned for or when, but Ola had this to say about the skiboarding industry as it is now:

“I’ve been in this since ‘97, and we never had one over [100cm] before a couple of years ago.. I just want to keep it at a level where Skiboarding is skiboardin, man.. Not where some guy’s dad accidentily pics up a pair of [ski]boards instead of a new set of skis for his preppy son..”

How To Make A Section - Part IV

January 14, 2008

htmas.jpg

BentFilms’ new project Cop Me And My Newb Joey is just a few months away. A video compilation of the best submitted amature skiboarding videos. Each month we’ll be giving out some pointers on how to shoot/edit/make a legit skiboard seciton. Take these tips in, and you’re skiboard section could be put in the next BentFilms flick!

This month LIFESTYLE SHOT and the advantage of FILLER.

So we touched on this in last month feature; the whole world surrounding shredding on sticks is much more vast than the act itself. Adding filler and lifestyle shots to a section and it adds personality and style to the riders or yourself, and makes it a lot more entertaining than a bunch of 2 second clips of faceless short stick riders played over until the music fades out.

Documentation and representation.

Look at yourself. What do you see? I see a white man with a big nose, wild beard and condom tall cap of Dutch descent whose great great great great great great grandfathers didnt treat the Native Americans too well and may have a few blood stains war-painted on his past. Doesn`t mean I can’t film some lifestyle shots of myself blacking and pup pupping some shots at the camera to play the fool every once in a while.

Shredding and filming a video part gives you the opportunity to offer an audience a charicature of yourself, yourself, a satire of yourself, and a few shakes more or less. I call it playing with form. At any rate, you have the opportunity to create a 4 minute presentation for your peers, so whose to say what flare you can and can`t offer to the world.

Granted, for Copmeandmynewbjoey, we want raw un-edited footage and a song you have permission to shred to, but with it, we encourage you to send us a detailed explanation as well. We will do what we may, but its all considered. Leave it in our hands and provide us with plenty of shred, stoke and things you think are beautiful/stupid/irrelevant/interesting. Who knows what will happen, theres always a bonus reel!
