White Noise – Crystal Castles

cc

Toronto based experimental electronic duo Crystal Castles got a big break when a recording of a studio microphone test ended up online. The recording ended up being their debutĀ singleĀ Alice Practice and was released back in 2006 on Merok Records. They’ve had much more success in Europe and the UK than back home.

The first single show the chaotic glitch/chip tune/sampling side of the band with lead singer Alice’s much more aggressive vocals. Other songs tend to be much tamer, but still use a high level of sampling and low-fi sound an vocals.

Its easy to be turned off when you first hear this band, especially if you are not into electronic or experimental music. If you do end up liking this band, you may follow them like a cult.
